Mr. Schwartz has broad legal and business experience. He has operated this law firm for more than 35 years, providing tactical and strategic advice and guidance. His legal assistance includes transactional document drafting and review, litigation support services and providing in-depth analysis, counseling and advice to individuals and to small businesses.
Perhaps Peter’s greatest asset is his extraordinary and varied experience. Peter’s business and legal experience has provided him with insights and understandings that are exceptional. He has been employed by both the government and giant companies as a lawyer and as an executive.
His legal experience includes many years of litigation and transactional work. As an Assistant District Attorney under a special federal program in Brooklyn, New York, he tried more than 75 jury cases including more than 40 murder cases. Shifting to civil litigation supervision and management, Peter managed civil litigation in 11 Western States for Prudential. Mr. Schwartz understands lawyers, juries and lawsuits.
Success as an in-house corporate lawyer led Mr. Schwartz to an opportunity to work as a Vice President in a 3-person unit working directly for the Chairman of the Board at Prudential, doing organizational strategic planning and opportunity and acquisition analyses for operating strategic business units, including Prudential’s group insurance business which was then introducing managed care.
Mr. Schwartz left Prudential to become the Vice President of Managed-Care for Transamerica which, was one of the first insurance companies to offer managed-care group health insurance. His organization grew into a 300+ employee managed-care insurance program for Transamerica and its successor, Provident Life and Accident. He understands how big companies operate, think, and make decisions.
At the Law Offices of Peter A. Schwartz, before he ceased personally trying cases, Peter tried scores of civil trials, arbitrations and mediations concerning employment, contract & business issues and real property disputes. He works to resolve disputes in a cost-effective manner. He understands litigation: opposing parties, lawyers, juries, mediators, arbitrators, and judges.

Schwartz is well-suited for owner-operated small ‘mom and pop’ businesses; Peter believes that owning and operating a small business is one of the most challenging and rewarding activities in life. His clients include business-owners/operators, manufacturers, professionals, landlords, tenants, real property owners, realtors/property managers, entrepreneurs, and investors.
Peter has owned and operated small businesses himself and understands small business challenges and opportunities. He has assisted many of the firm’s business clients from start-up through established success, providing business advice and analysis and support. Individuals and business owners benefit from the extensive varied experience of Mr. Schwartz and the other lawyers with whom he works. He provides support and expertise. He understands how both big and small companies think.
Mr. Schwartz has served on the Boards of Directors for several companies and several not-for-profits and is a Founding Director of Kidsave International, a 501(c)(3) charity.
Mr. Schwartz obtained his LLB from NYU School of Law, attended Cornell University and SUNY Binghamton obtaining a bachelor’s degree in political science. He did post-graduate work at USC; he also holds a CLU designation.
